వైఎస్సార్ జిల్లా సిద్దవటం అటవీ రేంజ్ పరిధిలోని శ్రీ లంకమల్లేశ్వర అభయారణ్యంలో 🏞️ భారతీయ పురావస్తుశాఖ బృందం రెండో రోజు శుక్రవారం జరిపిన పరిశీలనల్లో 15 లేబుల్ శాసనాలు (పేర్లతో చెక్కిన శాసనాలు) లభ్యమయ్యాయి. ఇవి అరుదైన శంఖులిపి శాసనాలు 📝గా గుర్తించగా అందులో ఒకటి బ్రాహ్మిలిపిలో ఉంది. ఈ శంఖులిపి శాసనాలు రాయలసీమ లో వెలుగులోకి రావడం ఇదే తొలిసారి కావడం పురావస్తుశాఖ బృందానికి ఆశ్చర్యం కలిగించింది.
లభ్యమైన శాసనాలు చెక్కిన చోటును పరిశీలిస్తే రెండు ప్రముఖ శైవ క్షేత్రాల మధ్య అప్పటి తీర్థ యాత్రికుల ప్రాచీన యాత్రా మార్గంగా కనిపిస్తోందని నిర్ధారించారు. 🛤️
అన్ని శంఖులిపి శాసనాలే.. 🏛️📜
సిద్ధవటం నుంచి నిత్యపూజకోన ఆలయానికి సమీపంలో అక్కదేవతల ఆలయం ఉంది. రెండు వాగుల ప్రవాహం కలిసే చోటు ఉన్న కొండ నిటారుగా ఉంది. ⛰️ పురావస్తుశాఖ బృందానికి చెందిన డైరెక్టర్ మునిరత్నంరెడ్డి, యేసుబాబు, రాఘవేంద్రవర్మ, ఎఫ్ ఆ౦ కళావతి తో పాటు అటవీ, పురావస్తుశాఖ సభ్యులు అతికష్టం మీద కొండపైకి చేరుకున్నారు. కొండపైనుంచి గోపాలస్వామి కోన ఆలయానికి వెళ్లే మార్గంగా గుర్తించిన ఈ కొండపై దారి వెంబడి 15 శాసనాలను గుర్తించారు.
బండలపై చెక్కిన వీటిలో వ్యక్తుల పేర్లు ఉన్నట్లు ప్రాథమికంగా నిర్ధారించారు. నడుచుకుంటూ వెళ్లే మార్గంలో ఈ శాసనాలు చెక్కి ఉన్నాయి. నిత్యపూజకోన ఆలయం నుంచి గోపాల స్వామి కోన ఆలయానికి వెళ్లే ఈ మార్గం 9 కిలోమీటర్ల దూరం ఉంటుంది.
దెబ్బతిన్న శంఖులిపిలో చెక్కినపేరు 👀
మీటర్ల దూరం ఉంటుందని లభ్యమైన శాసనాల్లో ఒక రాతి బండపై 4వ శతాబ్దానికి చెందిన బ్రాహ్మిలిపిలో చంద్రహాస అని ఒక పేరు, దాని పక్కనే ఆరో శతాబ్దానికి చెందిన శంఖులిపిలో మరో పేరు చెక్కి ఉంది. 6వ శతాబ్దం నుంచి సిద్ధమాతృ లిపి పరిణామ క్రమంలో ఈ శంఖులిపి మొదలైంది.
దెబ్బతిన్న అక్షరాలు ✍️
శంఖులిపితో లభ్యమైన 14 శాసనాల్లో కొన్నింటి విశ్లేషణ పురావస్తుశాఖ అధికారులకు కొంత క్లిష్టంగా మారింది. కళాత్మక రీతిలో చెక్కిన ఈ పేర్లకు సంబంధించి మధ్యలో ఒక్కో చోట ఒక్కో అక్షరం దెబ్బతింది. దీన్ని విశ్లేషించాలంటే అర్థాలు మారి పోయే అవకాశం ఉంది.
దీనితో పూర్తిగా అధ్యయనం చేశాక విశ్లేషించాల్సి ఉంటుందని అధికా రులు తెలిపారు.
మార్గంలో ఎన్నో శాసనాలు
ఉత్తర భారతానికి చెందిన తీర్థ యాత్రికులు నిత్యపూజకోన- గోపాలస్వామి కోన మధ్య దట్టమైన రిజర్వు ఫారెస్టు అయిన శ్రీ లంకమల్లేశ్వర అభయారణ్యంలో రాకపోకలు సాగించినట్లు ఇప్పటికే నిర్ధారణ అయింది. 🏞️ అక్కదేవతల కొండపై లభించిన 15 శాసనాలతోపాటు అదే మార్గంలో ఊహించని విధంగా ఎన్నో శాసనాలు వెలుగుచూసే అవకాశం ఉందని భావిస్తున్నారు. 4-6వ శతాబ్దాలకు చెందిన రెండు శాసనాలు ఒకే బండపై చెక్కి ఉన్నాయి.
శంఖులిపిలో బండపై చెక్కిన పేరు
అతి కష్టంతో సేకరణ
పురావస్తుశాఖ, అటవీశాఖ సంయుక్తంగా శుక్రవారం చేపట్టిన శాసనాల సేకరణ అతికష్టంతో జరిగింది. అక్కదేవతల ఆలయానికి 2 కిలోమీటర్ల దూరంలోని కొండపైకి 600 మీటర్లు ఎక్కాల్సి వచ్చింది. ఈ కొండ నిటారుగా ఉండటం, దారిలేకపోవడం వల్ల ఎక్కే సమయంలో చిన్న పొరపాటు జరిగినా ప్రమాదం చోటుచేసుకునేది.
అక్కడ సెల్ఫోన్ సిగ్నల్స్ కూడా లేవు. ఏదైనా ప్రమాదం జరిగి ఉంటే సమాచారం ఇచ్చేందుకు కూడా వీలు లేదు. ఎంతో సాహసంతో 12 కిలోమీటర్ల నడక, కొండ ఎక్కడం ద్వారా ఈ శాసనాలను సేకరించారు.
లోతైన అధ్యయనానికి ఆధారం
శ్రీ లంకమల్లేశ్వర అభయారణ్యంలో 4 నుంచి 16వ శతాబ్దం వరకు మానవ మనుగడ, లిపి పరిణామ క్రమం కు సంబంధించి లోతైన అధ్యయనానికి ఆధారాలు లభ్యమయ్యాయి. రెండు రోజుల పరిశోధనలో 27 లేబుల్ శాసనాలు వెలుగులోకి వచ్చాయి. వీటిని చెక్కిన మార్గం వెంబడి ఇంకా అన్వేషణ కొనసాగిస్తే చాలా శాసనాలు వెలుగులోకి వస్తాయని అంచనా. 🌍📜
Rare Shankhalipi Inscriptions 🏛️📜
For the first time in Rayalaseema, coming to light.. 🌟
15 Inscriptions found on Akkadevatala Hill ⛰️, from Nityapoojakon to Gopalaswami Kona along the forest path 🛤️

In the YSR district at Siddavatam forest range, within the Sri Lankamalla Seshwara Sanctuary 🏞️, a team from the Archaeological Survey of India discovered 15 label inscriptions (inscriptions carved with names) during their inspection on the second day, Friday. These have been identified as rare Shankhalipi inscriptions 📝, one of which is in Brahmi script. The discovery of these Shankhalipi inscriptions in Rayalaseema is the first of its kind, which surprised the archaeological team.
The place where the inscriptions were found was examined, and it was determined that it aligns with an ancient pilgrimage route of Shaiva shrines between two prominent temples. 🛤️

From Siddavatam to Nityapoojakon temple, near it is the Akkadevatala temple. A hill at the confluence of two streams stands tall. ⛰️ The team, including Director Muniratnam Reddy, Yesubabu, Raghavendra Varma, F.Am. Kalavati, along with forest and archaeological department members, managed to climb the hill with great difficulty. From the top of the hill, they identified a path leading to the Gopalaswami Kona temple, and along this path, they discovered 15 inscriptions.
On the rocks, the names of individuals were identified, as confirmed in the preliminary analysis. The inscriptions are carved along the path people would have walked. The path from Nityapoojakon Temple to Gopalaswami Kona Temple is about 9 kilometers long.
Damaged Shankhalipi inscription 🧐
A name in Shankhalipi is carved on a stone in the inscriptions, which dates back to the 4th century, and next to it, a name from the 6th century is carved in Shankhalipi. One of the inscriptions is in Brahmi script with the name Chandrahasa. The Shankhalipi script began evolving from the 6th century into Sidhamathru Lipi.
Damaged characters ✍️
In the 14 inscriptions found in Shankhalipi, analyzing some of them has become challenging for the Archaeological Survey officials. The artistic carving of these names has resulted in damaged characters in some spots. This could lead to possible changes in interpretation, so a complete study needs to be conducted for a more accurate analysis.
Numerous inscriptions along the path
Pilgrims from North India are believed to have traveled between Nityapoojakon and Gopalaswami Kona through the dense forest of the Sri Lankamalla Sanctuary, as it was already confirmed. 🏞️ Along with the 15 inscriptions found on Akkadevatala Hill, it is anticipated that further exploration along this route will likely uncover many more inscriptions. Two inscriptions from the 4th-6th centuries are carved on the same stone.

Collection with great difficulty
The Archaeological Survey of India and the Forest Department, working together, faced great difficulty in collecting the inscriptions on Friday. The team had to climb 600 meters to reach the top of the hill, which is about 2 kilometers away from the Akkadevatala Temple. The hill is steep, and without a clear path, any mistake while climbing could result in accidents. Moreover, there is no mobile signal in the area, making it impossible to call for help in case of an emergency. Despite this, the inscriptions were collected after walking a total of 12 kilometers and climbing the hill.
Basis for in-depth research
In the Sri Lankamalla Seshwara Sanctuary, evidence has been found for human existence and the evolution of scripts from the 4th to the 16th century. During the two days of research, 27 labeled inscriptions were discovered. As the search continues along the path, it is expected that many more inscriptions will come to light. 🌍📜
