**మెదడుకు పాలిష్!**
అబ్బే! గత ఏడాది పెద్దగా కలిసి రాలేదు. కొత్త సంవత్సరమైనా కలిసొస్తుందేమో చూద్దాం! మన చుట్టూ ఉన్న చాలా మంది నోట ఏటా వినిపించే మాట ఇది. ఆ తర్వాత అదే పని, అదే నిరాసక్తత... అంతా రొటీన్. మారేవి క్యాలెండర్ పేజీలు మాత్రమే. అలా సంవత్సరాలకు సంవత్సరాలే గడిచిపోతుంటాయి. మరి మార్పు ఎలా? అని ప్రశ్నించుకునే వారికోసమే ఈ కథ.
ఒక వ్యాపారవేత్త గురించి ఇది. ఆయన బిజినెస్ మాగ్నెట్. ఒక విమానం దిగితే మరో విమానం ఎక్కుతాడు. రోజంతా సమావేశాలు, పనులతో బిజీగా ఉంటాడు. ఓ సాయంత్రం ఆఫీసు నుంచి బయలుదేరి వెళ్తుండగా బూట్లు పాలిష్ చేసే వ్యక్తి దగ్గరకొచ్చాడు.
“సార్, మీ బూట్లు దుమ్ము పట్టి ఉన్నాయి. పాలిష్ చేస్తే బాగుంటుంది,” అని అడిగాడు.
“వద్దు! నాకంత సమయం లేదు,” అని ఆ వ్యాపారవేత్త చెప్పాడు.
ఇంకా ముందుకు వెళ్లగా మరో వ్యక్తి బూట్లు పాలిష్ చేయమని అడిగాడు. అందరికీ అదే సమాధానం ఇచ్చి చివరికి ఓ చెప్పుల స్టాండ్ దగ్గరికి వెళ్లాడు. అక్కడ ఓ వ్యక్తి “97, 98, 99...” అంటూ లెక్కపెడుతున్నాడు. అతను వ్యాపారవేత్తను చూడగానే ఇలా అన్నాడు:
“సార్, మీకు అడ్డు పడితే క్షమించండి. ఈరోజు నా పుట్టినరోజు. నా దగ్గరకు వచ్చే వందో వ్యక్తికి ఉచితంగా బూట్ పాలిష్ చేస్తానని అనుకున్నాను. ఆ వ్యక్తి మీరే! నా మాట నిలబెట్టుకునే అవకాశం ఇవ్వండి.”
వ్యాపారవేత్త కాదనలేకపోయాడు. ఆ వ్యక్తి బూట్లు శ్రద్ధగా పాలిష్ చేశాడు. అవి సరికొత్తగా మెరుస్తూ కనిపించాయి. పనిది పూర్తయ్యాక వ్యాపారవేత్త “నీ పనికి సాధారణంగా ఎంత తీసుకుంటావు?” అని అడిగాడు.
“ఇరవై రూపాయలు,” అన్నాడు.
వ్యాపారవేత్త వంద రూపాయల నోటు ఇచ్చి, పుట్టినరోజు శుభాకాంక్షలు చెప్పి వెళ్లిపోయాడు. అతను కనుమరుగయ్యేదాకా చూసిన ఆ బూట్లు పాలిష్ చేసే వ్యక్తి “97, 98, 99...” అని మళ్లీ లెక్కపెట్టడం మొదలెట్టాడు.
ఈ కథ “మీ జీవితాన్ని మార్చుకోవడానికి ఒక్క నిమిషం చాలు” అనే పుస్తకం నుండిది. ఇది చెబుతోందేమిటంటే:
