IIT Madras Launches Sports Excellence Based Admissions in UG Courses IIT Madras Sports Quota

ఇండియన్ ఇన్‌స్టిట్యూట్ ఆఫ్ టెక్నాలజీ మద్రాస్ (IIT మద్రాస్) 2024-2025 విద్యా సంవత్సరం నుండి 'స్పోర్ట్స్ ఎక్సలెన్స్ అడ్మిషన్' (SEA)ని ప్రారంభించింది. ఈ సంస్థ అండర్ గ్రాడ్యుయేట్ ప్రోగ్రామ్‌లలో క్రీడాకారులకు ప్రవేశాలను ప్రవేశపెట్టిన దేశంలోనే మొదటి IIT. 

Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) has launched 'Sports Excellence Admission' (SEA) from the academic year 2024-2025. The institute is the first IIT in the country to introduce admissions for athletes in undergraduate programmes.

SEA ద్వారా అడ్మిషన్ ప్రాసెస్‌కు ఒక విద్యార్థి JEE (అడ్వాన్స్‌డ్) అర్హత పొందవలసి ఉంటుంది, అయితే IIT మద్రాస్ నిర్వహించే ప్రత్యేక పోర్టల్ ద్వారా కాకుండా జాయింట్ సీట్ అలోకేషన్ అథారిటీ (JoSAA) పోర్టల్ ద్వారా కాదు.

The admission process through SEA requires a student to qualify JEE (Advanced) but not through the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) portal and through a separate portal maintained by IIT Madras.

JEE (అడ్వాన్స్‌డ్) 2024లో కామన్ ర్యాంక్ లిస్ట్ (CRL) లేదా కేటగిరీ వారీగా ర్యాంక్ లిస్ట్‌లో స్థానం సంపాదించి, గత నాలుగేళ్లలో ఏదైనా జాతీయ/అంతర్జాతీయ స్థాయి క్రీడా పోటీల్లో కనీసం ఒక పతకాన్ని సాధించిన అభ్యర్థులు దరఖాస్తు చేయమని ప్రోత్సహించారు.

Candidates who have secured a place in the Common Rank List (CRL) or category wise rank list in JEE (Advanced) 2024 and have won at least one medal in any national/international level sports competition in the last four years are encouraged to apply.

నిర్దిష్ట క్రీడల జాబితాలో అభ్యర్థులు వారి పనితీరుపై పొందిన మొత్తం స్కోర్ ఆధారంగా ప్రత్యేక 'స్పోర్ట్స్ ర్యాంక్ జాబితా' (SRL) తయారు చేయబడుతుంది. ఈ జాబితా ఆధారంగా సీట్ల కేటాయింపు జరుగుతుంది.

A separate 'Sports Rank List' (SRL) is prepared based on the total score obtained by the candidates on their performance in a particular list of sports. Allotment of seats is done on the basis of this list.

క్రీడల్లో ప్రతిభ కనబరిచిన ప్రతిభ కనబరిచిన విద్యార్థులను గుర్తించి వారికి బహుమతులు అందించడమే ఈ కార్యక్రమం. ఈ కార్యక్రమం అర్హులైన విద్యార్థులను వారి క్రీడలలో రాణిస్తూనే ఉన్నత విద్యను అభ్యసించేలా ప్రోత్సహిస్తుంది.

This program is to recognize and award the meritorious students who have excelled in sports. The program encourages deserving students to pursue higher education while excelling in their sports.
