**Amaravati, November 6 (Andhra Jyothy):** A major controversy has erupted in Andhra Pradesh regarding the allotment of seats under the **Sports Quota** in medical counselling. There are serious allegations against Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAP) officials for allegedly diverting seats meant for AP sportspersons to candidates from other states, specifically mentioning the daughter of West Bengal IPS officer V.S.R. Ananthnag.
The SAP administrative officer issued a clarification on Thursday. He stated that the provisional merit list for the sports quota for MBBS admissions in the 2025-26 academic year was announced on October 9, strictly adhering to the government-prescribed rules. A seven-day period was provided to receive objections against this list. He clarified that IPS officer V.S.R. Ananthnag had submitted a representation to SAP requesting consideration of his daughter Padmavathi’s name under this quota.
The SAP then wrote to the High Court seeking **legal opinion** on the application. Simultaneously, Ananthnag filed a writ petition in the High Court on November 5. SAP concluded by stating that based on the **Legal Opinion and the High Court orders**, Padmavathi’s name was added to the final list and submitted to the Health University.
