ఈ సంవత్సరం కూడా ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్‌, తెలంగాణ రాష్ట్రాల్లో విద్యార్థులు **స్థానికత (Locality)** విషయంలో ఎన్నో సమస్యలు ఎదుర్కొన్నారు. ముఖ్యంగా **ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్‌లో 10వ తరగతి వరకు చదివిన విద్యార్థులు**, ఇంటర్మీడియట్‌ను తెలంగాణ, చెన్నై, బెంగళూరు వంటి ఇతర రాష్ట్రాల్లో చదివినందుకే **నాన్ లోకల్**గా ప్రకటించబడ్డారు.
ఈ కొత్త జీవో (GO No. 20 – మే 2025) ప్రకారం, **నాలుగు సంవత్సరాల్లో (9వ తరగతి నుంచి ఇంటర్ 2వ సంవత్సరం వరకు)** ఏపీ వెలుపల ఒక్క సంవత్సరం కూడా చదివితే, **లోకల్ హోదా వర్తించదు** అనే నిబంధన వల్ల దాదాపు **7,000 మంది విద్యార్థులు నష్టపోయారు**.

This year too, students in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana faced issues related to **locality status**. Especially, those who studied up to **10th class in Andhra Pradesh** but completed **Intermediate in other states** like Telangana, Chennai, or Bengaluru were marked as **non-locals**.
According to the new **GO No. 20 issued in May 2025**, even **one year of study outside AP during 9th to 12th grades** would disqualify a student from being considered local. This rule affected **nearly 7,000 students**, mostly in **AP EAPCET** and **MBBS admissions**.

గుంటూరు, శ్రీకాకుళం జిల్లాలకు చెందిన **60 మంది విద్యార్థులు పిటిషన్లు వేశారు**. వాటిపై స్పందించిన ఏపీ హైకోర్టు **చీఫ్ జస్టిస్ ఠాకూర్** నేతృత్వంలోని బెంచ్, కీలకమైన తీర్పు వెలువరించింది.
**"10వ తరగతి వరకూ ఏపీ లో చదివిన వారు లోకలే. ఇంటర్‌ను ఇతర రాష్ట్రాల్లో చదివిన కారణంగా వారిని నాన్ లోకల్‌గా పరిగణించడం సరికాదు"** అని స్పష్టంగా తెలిపింది.

**60 students from Guntur and Srikakulam districts filed petitions**, and the **AP High Court Chief Justice Thakur’s bench** gave a crucial judgment.

ఈ తీర్పు వల్ల **ఎంబిబిఎస్ (MBBS) కోసం దరఖాస్తు చేసిన విద్యార్థులకు** ఇప్పటికే ఊరట లభించింది. అయితే విద్యార్థులు కోరుతున్నది – ఇదే తీర్పు **బీటెక్ (B.Tech) ఈఏపీ సెట్ అడ్మిషన్లకు కూడా వర్తించాలి**.
ఎందుకంటే, అదే నిబంధన కారణంగా **ఏపీకి చెందిన విద్యార్థులు మంచి ర్యాంక్ తెచ్చుకున్నా కూడా సీటు కోల్పోయారు**. వారి కోరిక – **ఈ సెకండ్ ఫేజ్ కౌన్సిలింగ్‌లో ఈ తప్పును సరిచేయాలి**.

**This verdict already benefits MBBS aspirants**, but students are demanding the **same rule should apply to B.Tech admissions via AP EAPCET**.
Many AP-based students **lost B.Tech seats** despite securing good ranks just because they studied Intermediate outside the state. Students hope this issue will be **corrected in second-phase counselling**.
